At Onemda, we provide meaningful employment opportunities that support our participants to develop independence, confidence, and skills to achieve their goals. Our Pathways to Independence and Employment program has seen participants flourish in a variety of industries. A shining example of this success is the Millward Café, where participants are using their hospitality skills in a real-world setting.

The partnership with Millward Café, located within the Calvary Millward Aged Care Facility, was developed as the next step for participants who have already gained valuable experience through Onemda’s Embrace Café trailer program. For many years, the Embrace Café has been a training ground where participants learned essential hospitality skills, such as food handling, customer service, barista work, and money management.

The Millward Café now offers our experienced participants the opportunity to take their next step toward employment. Twice a week, they head to the aged care facility to operate the café, serving residents and their families in a warm, welcoming space that has become a hub for social connection. Participants enjoy the unique chance to build relationships with the residents, adding a sense of community and purpose to their work.

This experience is invaluable. Participants are gaining more than just hospitality expertise—they are developing the confidence, independence, and interpersonal skills that will support their future employment aspirations. By working at Millward Café, they are actively contributing to a business, making connections, and experiencing the satisfaction of a job well done.

Through this unique collaboration between Onemda and Calvary Millward Aged Care Facility, our participants continue to develop vital skills while also making a positive impact on the lives of the residents and their families. It’s an inspiring story of growth, achievement, and the power of community.
