Onemda Participant Council
The Onemda Council comprises of participant representatives from across our campuses, who are elected by their peers and advocate on behalf of all Onemda's participants.
The Council holds an election every two (2) years, with elected participants serving a two-year term.
Participants attend regular meetings throughout the year, complete campus updates and host an annual raffle which sees funds raised go towards further professional development opportunities.
In addition, the council elect have established the 'All About Me' questionnaire, developed the organisation's furniture checklist, as well as complete ongoing feedback and tasks for research providers.
Being a part of the Onemda Council is quite the honour for our elected participants, Lily states "The Onemda Council has been good, because I get to see everyone from room 4 and other campuses. I enjoy talking with everybody."
Not only do council members attend and chair meetings throughout their Council Calendar, participants continue to strengthen their public speaking skills by representing their peers at special events, such as Staff Conferences and Orientation Days.
"I enjoyed doing Onemda Council. I liked being with everyone at every meeting. It has helped me be more confident with my speech," recent council graduate Joseph explained.
The Council is committed to recognising the rights and responsibilities of all participants in decisions which affect them, and has a formal link to the governance of Onemda reporting regularly to the Board.
