How Therapeutic NDIS Funding Works

If you’re an NDIS participant, therapy can play a vital role in helping you maintain or achieve greater independence and functionality. At Onemda, we’re here to help you understand how therapeutic supports work under the NDIS and how they can benefit you.

What Are NDIS Therapeutic Supports?

Therapeutic supports funded by the NDIS are designed to help participants achieve goals related to their function, independence, and overall well-being. These supports can include therapies aimed at improving your ability to care for yourself, move safely, and actively engage in your community, school, workplace, or recreational activities.

Examples of therapeutic supports include:

  • Learning daily living skills
  • Developing physical mobility
  • Enhancing social and communication abilities
  • Building mental and emotional resilience

Whether delivered individually or in group settings, therapeutic supports are tailored to meet your specific needs and goals.

How is Therapy Funded Under the NDIS

NDIS therapeutic supports are typically funded through your Capacity Building budget, with the primary categories being:

Improved Daily Living (Category 15)

This category funds therapies that support the development of everyday living skills, independence, and confidence. Examples include occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physiotherapy to help you navigate daily tasks and participate in your community.

Improved Health and Wellbeing (Category 12)

Therapies under this category focus on physical health and fitness. Examples include exercise physiology to build strength and mobility or dietitian support for nutritional needs.

Improved Relationships (Category 11)

These supports are aimed at fostering social skills and enhancing your ability to interact with others. Common therapies include behavioural interventions and psychology services.

NDIS sets price caps for these services to ensure participants receive value for money.

Who Provides NDIS Therapeutic Supports?

Therapeutic supports are delivered by qualified allied health professionals, such as:

  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Speech Pathologists
  • Exercise Physiologists
  • Allied Health Assistants

These professionals work collaboratively with you to ensure your therapy plan aligns with your NDIS goals and individual needs.

Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs) at Onemda

Our experienced team takes the time to understand your unique circumstances and goals, ensuring the assessment captures a comprehensive view of your needs and potential.
