Who We Are

Dr Suzanne Evas

Board Member

Suzanne has a B.Sc in Psychology and an M.Sc in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Southern Mississippi, USA. She spent several years as a practitioner in the disability and recreation fields before returning to academia to complete a PhD in Social Sciences at the University of Newcastle, Australia, followed by a research fellowship with the University of Sydney, Australia.  Her thesis topic and fellowship specialised in community inclusion for people with acquired brain injury. She practices as a consultant and advisor in academic, government, community, and commercial sectors.

Suzanne has over 25 years’ experience in coordination and project management roles as an allied health practitioner, researcher/evaluator, educator, and policy officer. Her focus is on strengthening the relationship between academic theory and applied practice, as each perspective critically informs the other. She upholds that individual lived experience is as vital in understanding and addressing enduring questions as is scientific inquiry. Suzanne’s passion is to craft innovative solutions that have positive and transformative impact, create social benefit and are socially just.
