Onemda Weekly eNews - Friday 4 November 2022

Dear Participants, Families & Carers,

Welcome to your weekly news from Onemda. As always, there are plenty of updates this week, so please take the time to read through as some information may affect you, or the person in your care.

REMINDER: ANNUAL FAMILIES & CARERS’ SURVEY

The 2022 Onemda Families and Carers’ Survey 2022 was emailed to you last week, providing you with an valuable opportunity to have your say about what’s working well and what needs improvement, so that we can plan for the future.

It’s important for as many people as possible to do the survey, which will take about 7-17 minutes maximum, depending on how many Onemda services you access. It’s anonymous, so you can be completely honest – we want the results to be a true reflection of the opinions and ideas of our community.

Thanks in advance for your time and your valuable insights! If you have already competed the survey, thank you and please disregard this reminder.

Onemda AGM Mentioned on Too Peas in a Podcast

We were delighted – and a little star struck – to have our AGM mentioned on Too Peas in a Podcast recently. Co-hosts Mandy Hose and Kate Jones were special guests at the Onemda AGM where the usual business was interspersed with presentations and commentary from Onemda participants, providing valuable insights, positive encouragement and more than a bit of humour. You can hear the Peas’ description in this episode, at about the 1hr8min mark.

Thanks Mandy and Kate, we were so glad to hear that you enjoyed the meeting every bit as much as we enjoyed having you there! And, if you’ve not caught up with this wonderful podcast, we strongly recommend you give it a listen – go to toopeasinapodcast.com.au

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS

If you looked around our campuses last week, you could have been forgiven for thinking you’d wandered onto the set of a horror movie, with creepy costumes and fantastically frightening face paint making for some scary encounters!

Thankfully, it was all in the ‘spirit’ of the season, Halloween providing some great opportunities for creativity, conversations, fun and learning. Room decorations went up across Onemda campuses and there were plenty of specially themed activities to enjoy.

Great job to all involved!

SafeTea EVENT Focuses on WHS

Last week, we wrapped up our Safety Month celebrations by hosting a SafeTea for the staff at Onemda. The SafeTea event is an event that is promoted by Safe Work Australia for Work Health and Safety Month where staff meet for morning tea and discuss workplace health and safety and enjoy some interactive activities as a team.

We ran a WHS Game Show Quiz where we had two groups compete within their knowledge of WHS in the workplace. It was a great way to stay up to date with all the latest health and safety know-how and also interact as a Team. We take health and safety very seriously at Onemda, and this was an inclusive (and enjoyable) way for everyone to learn and to keep work health and safety front of mind!

2023 CALENDAR DATES AVAILABLE!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s time to get your 2023 diary and start planning for the year ahead! We have released a list of important dates for next year, to help you plan for yourself and the person in your care. This list is constantly updated during the year, but you can always find the most up-to-date version online here.

CAMPUS HIGHLIGHT

DONCASTER EAST – High Care & Wellbeing

High Care celebrated Halloween with staff and participants dressed up for the day. The room was decorated, there was face painting for some participants, and a great day had by all.

Come & Try for potential new participants have been taking place. They all enjoyed their day and are looking forward to starting at Onemda.

Staff continue to support participants with their Health and Well-being goals, through individual physiotherapy regimes and daily walks. Pool Therapy has been especially beneficial to maintain flexibility and range of motion in a gravity assisted environment.

Please enjoy the weekend. In the meantime, as always, if you have any questions about anything in this newsletter don’t hesitateto contact us.

Kind regards,

The Onemda Team
