Onemda CEO

Simon Lewis

Simon has developed extensive experience and industry knowledge with over 20 years’ experience in the disability sector. He has held a wide range of leadership roles in the areas of intellectual disability, mental health, physical impairment and acquired brain injury. 


Simon commenced at Onemda in 2000, where his early career focused on community development. He was responsible for forging relationships and partnership opportunities with community groups, government and local enterprise to raise awareness and enhance the valued status of people with a disability. He later transitioned to senior leadership roles as Program Manager and Acting CEO, before his appointment to CEO in March 2009.


In 2015, he was awarded the Winston Churchill Fellowship Award, which enabled him to undertake a study tour of disability services in Canada, the USA and Peru. Simon has a Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership Studies (Disability) and is currently pursuing an MBA.


Simon has seen a huge change in the sector in recent years, especially since the transition to the NDIS. He remains committed to providing participants with group learning and support services and incorporating research and innovation into best practice, to drive meaningful outcomes for people with disability and their support networks. 


Professional achievements include:

Inaugural Chair of the Eastern Disability Services Network.


Representative on various advisory and stakeholder engagement committees, including the NDIS Reorientation Committee.


Development of a research and innovation centre at the Doncaster East main campus, including partnerships with technology companies and research institutes.
